India Pale Ale was first brewed when the British ships crossed the oceans en route to their faraway colonies. To better preserve their beloved beer during these long voyages, the English brewers added extra hops. British Brewer John Martin honoured this tradition when he landed in Antwerp in 1909 by using the unique dry hopping technique. For this technique, extra hopflowers are added at the end of the fermentation process to give the beer a fruity aroma and a bitter yet balanced flavour. Martin's IPA, the perfect alliance between British character and Belgian brewing expertise. Nose: Ripe orange fruit (apricot, peach and plum), herbiness from the hops and a hint of white flowers. Flavour: A full feeling in the mouth thanks to the outspoken bouquet of hops. A powerful bitterness at the start, followed by an ever so slight peppery aftertaste.

	Code name: GXS. In 1912, John Martin asked for a special Guinness brew to be developed just for Belgium. "Special Guinness Export Stout" was born, an 8-degree elixir; source of the famous "Guinness is good for you".

	Its famous taste has been copied but never matched, so that Guinness is now regarded as the quintessential black beer. You couldn’t call it bitter, but its roasted barley gives it hints of coffee and chicory and a velvety quality. With its substantial creamy froth, it bears some resemblance to an Irish coffee.
