The French abbey of Sainte Marie du Mont des Cats has been selling Trappist beer since June 16, 2011. This abbey has no brewery at this time and does not plan to build one in the near future, for reasons of cost and brewing skills. They have not excluded rebuilding one brewery in the future. The Trappist beer sold by Mont des Cats is produced by the Chimay brewery. The Mont des Cats is an amber beer, 7.6% alc.

Benno is named after former abbey leaders -- Gregorius Eisvogel was prior from 1925-31 and abbot from 1931-50; Benno Stumpf was superior ad nutum from 1952-53 and abbot from 1953-1966. This trappist is made with local hops and an addition of honey produced at Engelszell's bee farm. The Benno (6.9% alc.) pours a clear ochre -- the brewery calls the beer a "bright dubbel" -- with the nose an enticing blend of sweet honey and pear peppered with orange blossom, banana and soft farmhouse funk. The flavor, too, is almost more saison than dubbel, with crackers, white pepper, pear and traces of dandelion and cinnamon swirling before a dry, surprisingly bitter finish.

	'Witte Trappist' ( 5.5% alcohol) is brewed with especially aromatic hops, giving it a refreshing character. Witte Trappist is neither filtered nor pasteurized and the fermentation process continues in the bottle. In contrast to the other La Trappe beers, this beer should be served cold. La Trappe Witte is “the only Trappist white beer in the world”.
